An Our Companions Easter

15,000 Easter eggs are up for grabs in Farmington on the day before Easter! Follow the Easter Bunny to Farmington Miniature Golf & Ice Cream Parlor, on Route 4 in Farmington, on Saturday, April 3rd for their 14th Annual Easter Egg Hunt.

Kids can hunt for over 15,000 Easter Eggs filled with chocolate and prizes for your $1 donation to Our Companions Domestic Animal Sanctuary.

The Hunt, hosted by WRCH's Mike Stacy, starts at 11:15 for little ones under 2 years old.  At noon, it's the 3 and 4 year olds turn to hop; 5 and 6 year olds begin at 12:45, and 7, 8 and 9 year olds hunt at 1:15.

Everyone can enjoy tons of family fun from 11am to 2pm:

  • Meet Mike Stacy from 100.5 WRCH
  • Free face painting with Sparkles the Clown - donations appreciated
  • Free bounce house courtesy of Innovative Inflatables - donations appreciated
  • $2 Tie-Dye Vanilla Ice Cream Cones
  • Pictures with the Easter Bunny to benefit Our Companions: $3 with your camera or $5 with ours.

Bring your Easter Basket and appetite!  The Ice Cream Parlor will be open for your enjoyment featuring hot dogs, soft pretzels and of course ice cream!  And don't miss Pat's Famous "Tacos in a Bag"! 

Our Companions volunteers will be there as well, to hand out information and answer questions about Our Companions, Our Companions clothing and merchandise for sale, a few of our costumed mascot characters to get you in the mood for Spring!

Our Companions 2009: the Year in Review

Happy New Year! This is one of our favorite times of the year: when we get to share with you, our friends, volunteers and supporters, our accomplishments of the past year.

Our Companions Domestic Animal Sanctuary has made continuous progress during the last six years and is rapidly developing into one of the leading no-kill animal welfare organizations in this state. The key accomplishments in 2009:

· Rescued and found loving homes for more than 308 pets

· Responded to approximately 3,500 calls and emails for assistance on the Animal Helpline

· Held 13 Adoption Events

· Sterilized over 700 cats through our Feline Friendly and Sterile Feral Programs

· Launched program to assist the kittens of feral cats

· Increased special events volunteer staff by 21 volunteers and organized volunteers to attend 39 public events

· Mobilized volunteers to build 24 shelters for feral cats and conducted 5 large-scale feral cat food drives collecting and distributing over 2,820 pounds of food

· Held 15 Trap-Neuter-Return Training Classes attended by 78 people

· Canine College program has 36 volunteers, including 10 added in 2009.

· Served  over 250 dogs in our specialized canine rehabilitation programs

· Conducted 105 canine behavioral evaluations for adoptable dogs, a 25% increase over 2008.

· 100 dogs participated in our Family Companion Classes, a 40% increase over 2008.

· Held 340 private dog training sessions, a 35% increase over 2008.

· Launched the SafePet program providing housing to 8 pets, and responded to 53 requests for help involving 114 pets.

· Developed a comprehensive training program for Foster Homes for the SafePet program and trained 12 foster homes.
