Featured Pet: GeeBee
With one folded ear and a slight limp, an orange and white cat lived outdoors in a local neighborhood. A woman living in the area found this creamsicle cutie to be friendly and sweet. He looked quite rough around the edges from living outside and wanted to provide him an opportunity to receive care and live safely inside. She brought him inside her home and named this lovable boy, GeeBee!
She brought the young cat to the vet to receive an examination and medical care. He had a severe ear infection on his one folded ear. The vet said that his ear had some structural damage where it would not be able to stand up right and will stay permanently folded. The vet also examined the limp on his left rear leg and said it was most likely due to do a fall. It doesn’t seem to cause him any pain or discomfort, but he is sensitive to that area being touched. He also tested positive for FIV, which can be transmitted only between cats through blood or saliva. Cats with FIV can still live very healthy lives and normal life expectancies with a good diet and vet care. Despite all that he endured during his time in the streets, GeeBee was still social, sweet, and silly! He even coined nicknames like Goblin Boy and Gingerbread!
It seemed like a perfect happy-ending for GeeBee, but he unfortunately couldn’t get along with the senior resident cat in his new home. No fault to GeeBee, the senior cat just wasn’t too keen on this new guy stealing the show and all the attention away from their mama. Given that young and playful GeeBee was too much excitement and energy for her senior, the woman made the difficult decision to rehome GeeBee after a year of trying to integrate the two cats in the home. She contacted Our Companions for assistance and we welcomed GeeBee into our Rehoming Program and posted him up for adoption.
Over the course of the last year, the woman learned so much about GeeBee and his hilarious, goofball personality! He absolutely loves receiving attention and be your constant, cuddly companion! Similar to a dog, he sometimes will beg and try to convince you to give him a bite of whatever food you might be eating! GeeBee can be quite the catnip fanatic and will happily greet you when you come home! He loves to play with feather toys, but he particularly enjoys when you accidentally drop an ice cube on the kitchen floor! He will paw at the ice cube across the floor and entertain himself until it melts away! Speaking of slides, GeeBee actually has an infamous move called “The GeeBee Slide”! He loves rubbing against your legs and then will suddenly slide down your leg onto your foot, rolls over, and will look up at you with the sweetest face! His owner says, “Even the coldest heart would melt at the look on his face!”
Now around 4 years old, GeeBee is hoping to continue bringing lots of love and laughs to a home and family of his very own! He would most likely enjoy being your only furbaby to soak up all the attention from his family. Given that he does have some sensitivity to his backend, it’d be best for him to live in a home with older teens and adults. He does enjoy playtime and hopes to have someone that understands his fun-loving personality and quirks! If you’re looking for a furry companion to make your days brighter and lighter, you need to meet GeeBee!
