Yin, along with Yang, Charley Jr. and Eddie Jr., previously lived in a home with several other chinchillas. Earlier in 2024, Our Companions assisted with six chinchillas in the home through our Rehoming Program and had successfully found homes for all six. When our Small Animal Cottage opened in the summer of 2024, the owners reached out again for assistance with four additional chinchillas. We welcomed Charley, Eddie, Yin, and Yang to our Sanctuary in July of 2024.
Yin was about two years old when he first arrived to our Sanctuary. Yin, the darker gray chinchilla, is bonded with Yang, the light silver chinchilla. Both chins share a habitat and would need to be adopted together. When they first arrived at the Sanctuary, Yin and Yang were very under-socialized and often do not like leaving their habitat to free roam in their room, even when people are not around. They do however, enjoy activities inside their habitat, like running in their wheel, resting in their hideaways, and enjoying the company of each other. Now, Yang and Yin have been making huge chinchilla leaps with their handling and trust of humans! The bonded brothers are happy to have each other’s company, and are now adding human affection to their list of attributes! They are ready to find a home together with people who understand the nature of chinchillas and will take the time to allow them to trust and bond with their human companions.
