Rhea was purchased from a pet store 5 years ago and had bounced around the family home without anyone really being able to commit to Rhea’s care, leading a family member to call our Helpline. Our initial conversations were around caring for Rhea, ideas for enrichment and diet, and vet care. Rhea had never been to the vet, so we also supported getting Rhea examined with the hopes to also get her spayed. Rhea’s previous owner did decide to move forward with re-homing her due to mental health issues and physical limitations caring for the bun. The owner knew Rhea deserved a better quality of life, and after working with her for a few months, we were able to offer Rhea a spot at our Sanctuary.

When Rhea had her vet exam before coming to the Sanctuary, it was determined she was too overweight to undergo spay surgery. She had been eating an unbalanced diet in her previous home but is now eating more hay and getting down to an appropriate weight. (Though we think you’re beautiful just the way you are, Rhea, it doesn’t hurt to be in tip top shape for surgery!)

Estimated to be around 5 years old, Rhea the rex rabbit has had a smooth transition to our Sanctuary and already loves all the extra attention and care she’s been receiving! Not only does Rhea have cool markings, she also has the softest fur ever! She has been pleasantly sharing a room with another new bunny guest and has even made a few rounds to say hi to some of our guinea pig guests! We’re so happy to have her and look forward to helping this sweetie thrive!
