Background Story:
Trapped in a cage outside as part of a TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) community cat project, they discovered Captain Crunch was actually pretty friendly towards people. Animal control took him in at the local municipal shelter, had him vetted, and tried to adopt him out twice. Spending a little too much time on the streets, this feisty little guy with a big personality had to relearn some better social behaviors. Understanding his special needs, Our Companions was contacted and we welcomed Captain Crunch to our Sanctuary when he was 3 years old in 2020.
During his first year with us, our Cat Team focused on providing Captain plenty of playtime and enrichment activities to give him a positive outlet to release his energy and to prevent him from getting bored. He would often get overstimulated with petting, which would lead to sassy behaviors, therefore his boundaries were respected to earn his trust. As the years went by, Captain started to learn how to relax and become more comfortable with his small circle of friends. Captain Crunch is a very smart cat, and loves enrichment games and puzzles that show off his smarts! During the warmer seasons, Captain will go out to our cat play yards to get the zoomies and forage for treats!
Finding ways to ensure he’s happy and fulfilled, Captain now finds himself seeking pets and will even go on your lap for a snooze! Our Cat Team are always searching for new ways to keep him busy and having fun and we’re so grateful his feisty behaviors have significantly diminished! He is now ready to find a home of his own to continue his journey! If you’re looking for a cat that’s smart, funny, and loves to learn, you need to meet Captain Crunch!
