Blood Drive Success
This is our second annual blood drive held in honor of Marie Joyner, OC’s Canine Operations Director! During Marie’s cancer treatment, she received life-saving blood transfusions that helped her recover and become cancer-free! Our OC family was eternally grateful to those who donated blood to help Marie receive the treatment she needed. Therefore, we want to hold our very own blood drives to help more people in need!
Holding a blood drive this year brought a whole new meaning with the arrival of the Covid pandemic. Now more than ever, blood drives have become an important opportunity for the testing of Covid antibodies. Many safety procedures and protocols were in place to protect those both managing and participating in the blood drive. Hours were extended from 8AM-6PM to lower the number of people in the building while still accommodating the amount of people wanting to donate. Sanitizing stations, as well as disinfection protocols, were in place throughout the event. Face masks and coverings were required at all times.
We’re happy to announce we had close to 70 donors attend our blood drive, surpassing the number of donors from last year! We are so impressed and extremely grateful to have such an amazing community filled with compassionate people! Thank you to everyone who helped make this blood drive a huge success!
