Featured Pet: Sunflower
Beautiful and bright, Sunflower (also known as Sunny) was adopted as a young pup to a lovely family. They had another dog and children, and young pup Sunny seemed to be a wonderful mix for their home. They had a great, large yard and trained the dogs to be on an invisible fence. Sunny was able to run around, sniff all the fun smells in the woods, and play fetch all day long!
As Sunny settled in and became more attached with her people and home, tension started to rise between the other dog in the home. Having found caring people in a loving home, Sunny didn’t want to share her family and space with another dog. There would even be times where the young children made Sunflower a bit uncomfortable and she preferred to be the only one receiving attention from her owners. Eventually, with tensions rising, incidents occurred between the two dogs and they were never able to recover being friendly towards each other. The family made the difficult decision to rehome Sunflower to give her the opportunity to find a home where she didn’t have to share the attention in a home of her own.
The family tried to find an adopter for Sunflower on their own, but wasn’t able to successfully find someone that would be a great fit for what she needs. Her family found our Rehoming Program, where we help market and search for an adopter while the pet stays in their current home. We met with Sunflower and her family to learn more about this sweet girl. Now two years old, Sunflower knows basic commands like “sit”, “leave it”, and “come”. Since Sunflower mainly kept to her backyard, she didn’t go out for many walks or experience the outside world too much. She would greatly appreciate someone who can continue her training and give her the patience and love she needs to flourish and grow!
Once bonded with her people, Sunny is very affectionate and sweet! This hound’s favorite game is fetch and could play all day long! She’s all smiles when she has a ball in her mouth and her people by her side! A single family home with a fenced-in yard would be a big plus for an active gal like Sunny! Since she was a bit unsure of the young children at times, Sunny would enjoy a home with no other pets and older teens and adults. If you’re seeking a fun-loving dog to cherish and adore, you must pick sweet Sunflower to be the one for you!
