Featured Pet: Willow
Originally at a rescue in Minnesota, Willow was adopted at the young age of one to a lovely couple. They instantly fell in love with Willow, but knew she needed lots of training and care. They both worked very hard to give Willow the support she needed to adjust to her new life. Between plenty of exercise and enrichment, Willow flourished into loveable and loyal companion.
As time went on, the couple adopted another canine companion, which Willow handled very well. She’s never been a fan of small dogs, but having an equally-sized friend seemed to be alright with her! The two did well together, but weren’t particularly bonded given Willow’s independent nature. The harmony in the home seemed to be going well, until Willow’s owners were expecting their first child. Like many dogs, they’re a bit bewildered with babies! They’re people, but small, clumsy, loud and at times, unpredictable. Willow had a hard time adjusting to a home with this new addition. Still, the couple were determined to work with Willow and help her adjust to this new life.
Things were manageable at first, up until the couple were expecting again. The couple didn’t want to rehome Willow, but were worried they weren’t meeting Willow’s needs and giving her the home she deserved. In the midst of all this decision-making, an unfortunate incident occurred when Willow escaped from their yard and had an altercation with a small dog. Though she’s never liked small dogs throughout her entire life, Willow’s owners knew she needed more love and attention to prevent an incident like this to occur again. They decided to place Willow in our Rehoming Program to find a better match that will help her thrive and give her the attention and care she needed!
At 8 years old, there’s no doubt that Willow is absolutely stunning! But don’t think she’s all beauty, she is quite intelligent too! She knows sit, stay, heel, paw, and more, just to name a few! She’s comfortable around adults, and a total couch snuggler with her friends! Exercise is an important part of her life, but also enjoys hanging out and receiving tons of pets. She can spends hours basking in the sun outside, enjoying the great fresh air! Though with the colder weather approaching, her Husky side is going to have a blast in the snow! Willow even plays with her toys on her own, tossing them in the air and catching them- it’s too cute!
Willow would truly appreciate a home with dog savvy people that can understand her and meet her needs. A single family home is a must for this lovely girl, and a fenced in yard would be great, but is not required. She is crate-trained and would prefer to be your one and only four-legged friend in the home! There’s no doubt, this charming girl will steal your heart!
