Featured Pets: Pip and Mottle

Some time ago, a family adopted two guinea pigs from a pet store and were told the piggies were two females. Yet, lo and behold, a few months later the family was quite surprised to find baby guinea pigs in their crate! One of the guinea pigs was actually a male and now the family had quite a lot of guinea pigs to attend to! They were able to find homes for the male and a few of the babies, but decided to keep the mom, named Pip, and one of the babies, a female named Mottle.

This mother-daughter duo bonded instantly. Mama Pip is 2 years old and has brown and white markings and daughter Mottle is a year old and has white, black, and brown markings. The two love spending time with each other and have never fought. The family enjoyed getting to know the piggies, their likes and dislikes, and have given them a great life. However, the family is moving and are unable to continue caring for the two. They reached out to Our Companions about our Rehoming Program for help with placing these two together and finding a wonderful home for them.

The pair have similar likes and personalities. They are mostly quiet, but have their moments where they like to be hyper and have fun! They appreciate people who are gentle with them and will become more curious and comfortable if you take things slow. They are a bit squirmy and skittish when being picked up, but they will eventually settle in once they’re on your lap- especially if you have some yummy snacks for them to enjoy! If you have some carrots, bell peppers, and cilantro, you’ll certainly win the hearts of these two! After some snacks and cuddle time, they like having some solo time or just some mother-daughter time together. This time can be spent back in their cage or within a pen on the floor for them to run around and have some piggy time!

Pip and Mottle will truly love a home that is caring, patient, and loves piggies! Going to a home together where they can get plenty of attention, delicious food, and a space to run around would be awesome! They would truly thrive with someone that understands these lovely gals!
