The Healing Center is a safe place for animals to undergo much-needed rehabilitation to heal and improve their overall quality of life.
The Valerie Friedman Healing Center is an on-site veterinary physical rehabilitation facility for animals at the Sanctuary. Many dogs at the Sanctuary come to us with injuries, physical ailments, or require post-surgical rehabilitation. Our geriatric dogs often suffer from joint and mobility issues.
The large, sunlit “workroom” greets with you with a plethora of colorful exercise equipment like Bosu balls, steps, ramps, mats, and training cones.
The centerpiece of the workroom is a state-of-the-art water treadmill for hydrotherapy that provides a combination of therapeutic benefits. The heat of the water provides relief for tight muscles, the movement of the water provides massage, and the resistance of the water helps to build strength and streamline gait, without overloading the joints.
