Susie

Susie and Maureen came from a hoarding case in Rochester, New York. A local animal rescue was working with animal control to secure and support many hoarded guinea pigs and reached out to Our Companions for assistance. We welcomed Susie and Maureen to our Sanctuary in December 2024. They were only 6-months-old and showed signs they had not been handled much by people.

Susie and Maureen have been very nervous and shy, but they are definitely a bonded pair and enjoy being together! Having each other must certainly help with all they have been through in their little lives! Susie is black and white, loves her fresh veggies and treats, and is starting to come out of her shell along with her sister! Staff and volunteers have been working slowly at getting the girls to be comfortable with petting and handling as we help them learn to trust and bond with human companions. Both are still very shy but making big strides already with being held and taking treats from our hands.
